From Cornwall to Tuscany

From the beaches of Cornwall and Devon to the vineyards of Tuscany, we recently spent a few days together with Wanderlust Wine soaking up great food, local wine and a different pace of hospitality.

Our first stop was checking into the beautiful medieval fortified farmhouse, Fattoria Corzano e Paterno. Surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills, it was the perfect base for the trip and set the tone for the days ahead.

From there, the days were filled with long lunches, sea swims and plenty of opportunities to learn from the people behind some incredible food and wine. We spent afternoons at Quercetana Bay, swimming in the sea before settling in with cold beers and plates of fritto misto. There were also plenty of shared feasts, with fruit, cured meats, pizzas and, of course, plenty of mozzarella.

One of the highlights was a wine tour in Lamole with Jurij Fiore, where we spent time learning about the vineyards, the influence of the landscape and the care that goes into every bottle. The experience gave us a deeper appreciation for the stories behind the wines we enjoy and share every day. That learning continued throughout the trip, including a memorable morning spent tasting organic Brunello di Montalcino with Janne. Not your average breakfast, but a brilliant opportunity to hear firsthand about the winemaking process, the importance of organic practices and the passion that sits behind each glass.

More than anything, the trip was a chance to spend time together, take inspiration from a different way of doing things and enjoy some incredible food and wine. We returned home with plenty of ideas and an even greater appreciation for bringing people together around a table.
